What makes Mutti chopped tomatoes different from others?
Mutti's Polpa (chopped tomatoes) consists in finely diced fresh tomatoes. The tomatoes used are only Italian, they ripen under the hot Mediterranean sun, they are harvested and processed on the same day. After a strict selection the tomatoes are chopped into small pieces, the entire process takes place without the use of heat that would inevitably change the nutritional values of the fruit and in consequence its organoleptic perception. No additives, no artificial flavours or preservatives are added, so the nutritional values of the product - excellent hand picked tomatoes- are retained and exalted.
How do you suggest I use it?
You can use Mutti tomato pulp instead of fresh tomatoes to make homemade tomato sauce. The difference is that with fresh tomatoes you have to clean, peel, and simmer for a long time, Mutti tomato pulp give your sauce a similar flavour but require much less time to cook.
How long should it cook for?
Cook Mutti chopped tomatoes for four or five minutes at most, then use to top pasta. To obtain a dish with an Italian twist when using Mutti products, let sauté onion, celery, and carrot in a small amount of olive oil, add Mutti chopped tomatoes. Simmer for a few minutes for a rich homemade flavor!
Can I eat it without cooking or preheating it?
It might sound strange but Mutti Tomato Pulp can be eaten immediately! Although it’s a canned product it’s so good and authentic, there’s no reason not to eat it on a slice of toasted bread with a pinch of salt and a basil leaf. You will obtain a perfect italian bruschetta!
Is this tomato purée already cooked?
Mutti’s pureed tomato sauce is made from tomatoes that are crushed and concentrated, then pasteurized. In this case heat is used during the crushing so they are briefly cooked, for this reason you can use Mutti’s tomato purée immediately without heating or cooking it further.
Will I find any seeds in this tomato sauce?
Our puree contains no seeds or peels, it’s smooth, soft and dense. You will also notice that it’s not at all watery because it has a very low percentage of water, so it doesn’t separate from the tomato. Furthermore, since the purée is densified, the sugary components of the tomatoes used are concentrated giving an extremely sweet end product.
If some sauce is left over in the bottle, for how long can I store it in the fridge?
The two packaging formats (700 g and 400 g) give both larger and smaller families the possibility to use every bottle in a single use. However, if some is left over, since we do not use and additives or preservatives use, close it and put it in the fridge, and use it as soon as possible, within three days at most.
How do you suggest I use it?
Mutti's tomato purée can be used in a wide range of typically Mediterranean dishes that often have a tomato base, and it has the advantage of not requiring a long cooking time.
